The Web Developer will join the Digital Services team and will be responsible for assisting the Senior Web Developer in the design, development and maintenance of websites, landing pages and html based e-mails for the College of Graduate and Professional Studies at the University of New England (UNE Online).

  • Code and implement WordPress websites through development of custom themes, functions, and plugins.
  • Code and implement Pardot templates for landing pages and HTML email.
  • Design and execute new features and enhancements, perform site maintenance of existing websites.
  • Assist the Web Content Manager and the Marketing team members with any issues related to web technology or web assets.
  • Perform periodic website audits.
  • Provide consistent and reliable process documentation.
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of all projects.
  • Embrace lifelong learning and pursue self-improvement actively and independently.
  • Report weekly on performance and upcoming initiatives.

A Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired. 3-5 years of experience in web development or equivalent role.

  • Strong knowledge of the WordPress platform.
  • Strong knowledge of current web development languages (including HTML5, CSS3/SASS, Javascript/jQuery, PHP, MySQL).
  • 1-2 years experience with responsive design.
  • Proficiency with Git version control.
  • Proficiency with Google Analytics, Google Web Master and Google Tag Manager.
  • Familiarity with website accessibility.
  • Clear understanding of web standards and usability methods.
  • Design skills/Photoshop experience a plus.
  • Marketing experience a plus.
  • Flexibility and eagerness to identify, learn, and use new and changing technologies.
  • Self-starter with strong self-management skills.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience working in a university computing environment preferred.
